DESCRIPTION

New Green Veneer Drying and Stacking Line – Electrical Installation

Goodwin was tasked with completing and commissioning the electrical portion of a new veneer drying and stacking line within a strict 20-day schedule. The project required extensive planning and coordination with mechanical trades operating on the same timeline, necessitating the seamless integration of efforts across disciplines.

The scope included:

  • Installation of a new 25KV switchgear line-up, two 3000 KVA transformers, and two 5000A power distribution centers.

  • Deployment of eight motor control center (MCC) line-ups equipped with variable frequency drives (VFDs).

  • Upgrades to plant and electrical room lighting, emergency lighting, and power/control/network wiring for process equipment.

  • Replacement of legacy electrical infrastructure, including outdated PDCs that were no longer serviceable.

Despite the challenges posed by overlapping trades in high-traffic areas and the compressed timeline, the project was completed on time, and the line was commissioned to operate at its planned capacity. Goodwin’s team delivered the project with zero incidents, reflecting a strong commitment to safety, precision, and collaborative execution.
